Katherine Guerrerio
Katherine Guerrerio is a rising junior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics/Statistics. She has extensive experience in applying computer science to various social issues such as her research analyzing causal links between behavior and parent-child interaction quality and analyzing social support in substance use disorder recovery online forums. However, literacy and access to literature is an issue particularly important to Katherine from her work at her own non-profit Community Reads. Their mission is to promote representation in children’s literature to increase early-literacy skills, nurture empathy and socio-emotional development, and provide books that serve as “windows and mirrors” to K-2 students.
