Juan A. Cruz


After graduating from Montclair State University with a B.A. in History and Secondary Education in 2000, and an M.A. in Educational Leadership in 2011. Juan has been an educator in the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District for over 20 years. Serving as a seventh-grade social studies teacher and coach of multiple sports from 2000-2009, he made the transition to administration and supervision in the fall of 2009. These roles have included the Coordinating Supervisor for Social Studies, World Languages, Music, and Physical Education. He also served as Director of Secondary Education for two years. Currently, he is the proud Principal of Rockaway Meadow Elementary School which has the largest K-5 Autism program in the school district. He also enjoys the role of representing the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District as an executive committee member of Montclair State University’s Network for Educational Renewal, and as a public school representative for Montclair State’s Teacher Education Policy Committee. 

As an administrator and supervisor, Juan takes great pride in creating a supportive and dynamic educational atmosphere. Working collaboratively with teaching staff, he has facilitated numerous professional development opportunities based on teacher and student needs, and takes great pride in the inclusive learning opportunities he has authored or supervised through the curriculum writing process.   

Juan serves as a volunteer soccer coach for his daughter and son, and as a Special Olympics volunteer for North Jersey Area 3. Juan’s favorite role is as a husband to his wonderful wife (a fellow educator), and father to his two beautiful children.
