Dr. Emerson has a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Georgia State University and is currently a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Center for Childhood Deafness, Language, & Learning at Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE. Her research focuses broadly on language and learning abilities. More narrowly, she studies how the cognitive-neural mechanisms of pattern learning affect language abilities in individuals who have different native language backgrounds, who are learning a new language, or who have a language disorder. She has a passion for EdTech and an interest in driving the development of learning-based technologies through research- and evidence-based practices.
