Anne DeGroot, Readeezy’s Literacy Specialist, earned her doctorate in education in Literacy/Language Arts Education from Rutgers University in 2006. Previously, she earned a Masters in Reading and certification as a Reading Specialist from William Paterson University. She is also certified in elementary education and English. She has over 24 years of teaching at the college level.
Dr. DeGroot earned tenure and became an Associate Professor at Ramapo College of NJ. Before coming to Ramapo, she taught at Felician College and William Paterson University where she taught courses in Reading Theory, Language Arts, Diagnosis and Remediation, Reading in the Content Area and Literacy Courses at the Graduate Level. She has also conducted Student Teaching Seminar and has supervised many student teachers. She has made numerous presentations on educational topics and published articles on Literacy, Differentiated Instruction and Teacher Education. She has also served as secretary for the College Literacy Division of ALER (Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers), a national literacy professional organization.
In 2018, Dr. DeGroot retired from Ramapo College. She has remained active in literacy education, and has offered assistance as schools have switched to hybrid and remote learning. She is renewing her interests in painting and drawing.
